In a gripping league encounter at Klipgat on 16 August 2025, Labyrinth Football Club Ladies faced MONENE FC, ultimately succumbing to a narrow 4-3 defeat. The match, which kicked off at 3:00pm, showcased a rollercoaster of emotions as both teams battled fiercely for supremacy.

Labyrinth lined up in a 4-3-3 formation, designed to provide a solid defensive base while allowing for attacking flair. Thibathiba Thebe took her place in goal, shielded by a back four comprising Kgwebane Elizabeth and Nhlayakgosi Lebogang as right and left defenders, respectively, with Oretshwanetse Phiri and Mushuku Angeline occupying the central defensive roles. In midfield, Resego Ntsayagae, Modise Neo, and Ditau Letlhogonolo were tasked with controlling the tempo and linking play, while the forward line featured Mathuloe Tlotlo on the right, Tshegofatso Mokgopha as the central striker, and Kubatsi Lorraine on the left, all expected to exploit any defensive lapses from the opposition.

The substitutes for Labyrinth included Nontlantla Javu, Kekana Masego, and Tsagae Bonolo, who would be called upon to make an impact as the match progressed.

The match began with MONENE FC taking an early lead in the 8th minute, capitalising on a defensive mistake from Labyrinth. A close-range effort from the opposition's forward found the back of the net, sending an early shockwave through the Labyrinth ranks.

As the game unfolded, MONENE doubled their advantage in the 26th minute with a stunning long-range strike that sailed past Thebe, leaving her with little chance to respond. The Labyrinth defence struggled to contain the attacking threat, and just before half-time, MONENE struck again in the 41st minute. A goalmouth scramble resulted in another close-range finish, putting Labyrinth in a daunting position as they trailed 3-0 at the break.

Following the interval, Labyrinth made tactical substitutions, bringing on Nontlantla Javu for Oretshwanetse Phiri and Kekana Masego for Kgwebane Elizabeth, aiming to inject fresh energy into their performance. The changes paid off almost immediately, as Kekana Masego scored in the 52nd minute, finishing a well-worked team move with a composed right-footed shot, assisted by Resego Ntsayagae.

With renewed vigour, Labyrinth continued to press forward, and in the 66th minute, Resego Ntsayagae found the net again, this time with a spectacular volley from outside the box, following a short pass from Ditau Letlhogonolo. The momentum had shifted, and Labyrinth were now within touching distance at 3-2.

However, MONENE FC responded decisively in the 71st minute, scoring from a set piece with a powerful header that restored their two-goal cushion, making it 4-2. Labyrinth refused to back down, and in the 82nd minute, Resego Ntsayagae completed her brace with a brilliant solo goal, receiving a long pass from Kubatsi Lorraine before finishing expertly from close range.

Despite their valiant efforts and a thrilling finale, Labyrinth could not find the equaliser, and the match concluded with MONENE FC claiming a hard-fought 4-3 victory. The contest was a testament to the competitive spirit of both teams, with Labyrinth showing resilience and attacking flair, particularly through the standout performances of Resego Ntsayagae and Mushuku Angeline.
