Evening chaps,
Please find attached my match report from Sunday.
Lads really really difficult one to take on Sunday.. but as I had relayed the message in training on Thursday and Friday I could sense a complacency’s within the group and the intensity we trained at across those two days, easy to say now, but it’s something I could sense within us.
We started the game really poorly lads, we gave the ball away cheaply, we were rash in our decision making & we lost out on so many second balls, it really looked like E & B wanted it more which is the most disappointing part for me , the way we hunted Bromley down the week before is exactly what they done to us & you could see how much they were up for the game.
We scored a great goal against the run of play, a tremendous pass from Beau to split the defence & a great timed run and finish from Kai I truly thought we would weather the storm and that would kick us to gear but I actually felt it made even more relaxed, had we got to 1-0 at half time I felt we could have shuffled the pack & given some detail to take control of the half but they rightly equalised on the stroke of half time and went in with there tails up.
We spoke about at half time we have to compete first and foremost but in possession we have to be better, they have a incredibly high line and too many times we either over or under hit the pass in, or we were caught offside, all be it the Lino was very eager to stick his flag up BUT you are going to get that every week boys.
I felt the change of pushing Max into midfield at half time made a big difference and perhaps playing you at Centre Half first half time was not the best option tactically, that’s on me and Becks to get right & we got a foothold in the game second half without any real quality.
Both the 2nd & 3rd summed up our afternoon boys, lazy clearances, no desire to close down & you got punished against if we are honest a very very average side.
We aren’t a surprise package anymore boys, teams in the KYL talk & you have to fight every single week in this league to get 3 points, not just the big games out in cup competitions and our mentality has to be right for Cray Valley on Sunday.
I’ve attached the VEO of the game for you to look at as well & I suggest you all watch in full before training tomorrow.
Let’s get back to work and put things right on Sunday against Cray Valley.
A massive reminder on training attendance, IF we want to be successful we need that time with you on the training pitch.
See you tomorrow.
H/Becks
