Morning chaps,
Hope we have all recovered after our tremendous win on Sunday, I’m still buzzing if I’m honest! Please find my match report below.
Boys what a win, but without sounding in anyway arrogant I turnt up to the game Sunday full of confidence that we would get the result off the back of two wins, but more importantly than that everyone at training on Thursday & Friday, it’s a simple formula, buy in to what we do at Unique & I have no doubt we will continue to go from strength to strength over the coming weeks, without getting carried away, it’s clear to see we have turnt a corner!
The game itself from min 1 - 70 we were by far the better team, we worked on Friday setting the press from the front & inviting Bromley to play out, this worked so well, I lost count in the first 30 mins how many times we turnt the ball over high up the pitch & if we didn’t win the first, we won the second, third and sometimes even fourth ball.
The front three of Lemar, Kai & Bailey worked so hard, it wasn’t a game where you boys got lots of the ball, some games we will have to do that, but you sacrificed yourselves for the TEAM & in the moments you got on the ball we looked dangerous, quite honestly Bromley couldn’t handle our intensity as they began to argue among themselves & on the side.
We pinned them In for long periods and got the goal we deserved through a wonder strike from Billy, the celebrations after showed how much it meant to you boys, what a goal, what a moment, that’s why we are play, or are involved in football.
At half time we spoke about how Bromley will come out in the second half and throw the kitchen sink at us, that’s exactly what they done but at no point in the game did it look like they would score.
Oscar you have brought a real calmness and confidence to the back 4 & the impact you have had on the group has been great, well done!
As the game grew on I felt we were the ones looking more likely to add a second and we got that when Bailey put the ball, goalkeeper & anything else in his way in the back of the net, we saw a different side to you on Sunday, a proper skippers display.
After that boys again I felt we were in total control, I could pick you all out in that last 10 mins, the amount of turnovers Max and Sera picked up was incredible, the headers Theo and Billy one, our fullbacks Hec and Doniel and Beau picking up great covering positions.
The performance was optimised for me when Tyler tracked back 30 yards and crashed into a tackle when Bromley were on the break, THAT is a Unique F.C team boys, heart on sleeve, running for each other, exciting on the ball & proud to wear the badge.
When they scored with 4 mins to go I’d be lying if it wasn’t heart in mouth, but after getting through that little period you boys got what you deserved.
I said before the game I needed everyone at a 7/8 out of 10 to have a chance of getting something from the game & you more than gave me that boys, well done & it’s time to start believing we can really achieve good things this season if we all buy in, we get a consistent squad every week and I’ll repeat it again, we all get to training so we can work and refine some of the things you are already seeing the fruition on.
My question is now, do you think you have arrived?
Have we got the mentality to back up that Bromley win by going and beating Erith & Belvedere in the league on Sunday?
That is our level now & it must remain this way.
I’ll see you ALL this evening.
