With only Dave Burton & Gary Morris (work commitments) missing for the game, manager Peter Burton had a strong squad to pick from for this weekends fixture.

Following a poor result the previous week the coaching staff asked for a positive reaction from the squad...and that is what they got.

Straight from the whistle 'The Dubs' went on the attack putting the away team under early pressure and creating several good chances.

With the 'Dubs' surging forward to find the opening goal, Preston played a counter attacking game breaking away several times during the first half only to be denied by keeper Dan Dixon.

Despite some excellent attacking play down the wings from Craig Norman and Russell Spence, the first half finished with the 'Dubs' finishing the stronger at 0-0.

The second half started as the first finished with the 'Dubs' on the attack with Craig Norman hitting the post early in the half and Butterworth, Boult and Humphrey orchestrating the midfield

The break through came in the 65th minute when a penalty was awarded to the 'Dubs' when Craig Norman was brought down on the edge of the box by a Preston defender. Norman brushed himself down and coolly converted the spot kick.

The 'Dubs’ continued to pile forward looking for the second of the game while the away team seemed happy to soak up the pressure and counter attack on the break.

Kallum Hannah was replaced by a fit again James Hackett in the 60th minute.

Craig Norman came close again hitting the woodwork for the second time of the game and Hackett was denied by a double save by the Preston keeper.

In the 70th minute the game was put to rest with a fine strike from Glen Butterworth from the edge of the box following good work from Hackett.

The 'Dubs' continued to play some good attacking football creating several more chances including hitting the woodwork several more times and Chris Burton coming close to adding the third late in the half.
