vs George & Dragon Yarm

Away league match

This week’s fixture saw 'The Dubs' travelling away to a George & Dragon team wanting revenge for their 4-3 defeat earlier in the season.

'The Dubs' fielded a strong team despite injuries to Craig Norman (ankle) and work commitments for Gary Morris & Dave Burton.

With both weather & pitch conditions not suited to 'The Dubs', saw G & D take the initiative earlier on and playing some attacking football from the whistle.

Despite being under early pressure, 'The Dubs' took the lead in the 10th minute following a good team move starting with a cross from James Hackett, a cushioned header down by midfielder Glenn Butterworth and a fine finish by Kallum Hannah to make it 1-0.

G & D equalised in the 30th minute following a good move down the left hand side.

Kallum Hannah netted his 2nd of the game in the 40th minute following a long clearance from keeper Dan Dixon which bounced over the home teams defence and Hannah lobbing the advancing keeper to take the score into half time 2-1.

The 2nd half started as the 1st ended with both teams playing expansive attacking football. Once again Michael Harrington had to be substituted (Dave Butterworth) early into the half with a groin strain. Despite the G & D putting 'The Dubs' under intense pressure at times the back three of Butterworth, Licence & Iverson held firm.

'The Dubs' were awarded a penalty in the 80th minute. Up stepped Kallum Hannah to the spot to seal his hat rick to only put the ball wide of the target.

The game finished 2-1.
