Labyrinth Football Club Ladies hosted Monene at Dinie Estate Rustenburg on 1st November 2025, with kick-off at 3:00pm in a league home match. The hosts emerged dominant, securing a 4-1 victory after a commanding display over the full 90 minutes plus injury time. The match was officiated impeccably, with the referee’s performance rated a perfect 100, and the crowd of 300 witnessed an entertaining contest.

Labyrinth lined up in a 3-4-3 formation, deploying three defenders at the back, four midfielders across the middle, and a front three tasked with leading the attack. Thibathiba Thebe took her place in goal, protected by a defensive trio of Mpho Kheswa on the right, Letlhogonolo Ditau centrally, and Nhlayakgosi Lebogang on the left. The midfield quartet featured Mosele Ashley on the right flank, Tsagae Bonolo and Resego Ntsayagae occupying central roles, and Mosimanyana Selebaleng on the left. Up front, the attacking trio consisted of Mabalane Rachael on the right wing, Tshegofatso Mokgopha as the central striker, and Kekana Masego on the left. The substitutes named were Tshegofatso Pheko and Kebitsang Vanessa.

From the outset, Labyrinth showed intent. Just three minutes in, striker Tshegofatso Mokgopha tested the Monene goalkeeper with a close-range effort that was well saved. However, the early pressure paid off in the seventh minute when Resego Ntsayagae unleashed a stunning long-range strike from outside the box, following a neat short pass from central midfielder Tsagae Bonolo. The ball flew past the keeper and into the net, setting the tone for the rest of the match.

Shortly after, Kekana Masego was caught offside for a mistimed run at the ninth minute, a correct decision that halted a promising attack. But Labyrinth’s attacking threat was undeterred. In the twelfth minute, Kekana delivered a precise cross from the left which Tshegofatso Mokgopha expertly converted with a right-footed tap-in from close range, doubling the home side’s lead.

As the first half progressed, Labyrinth’s defence remained resolute. At 38 minutes, goalkeeper Thibathiba Thebe made a crucial interception to deny Monene any foothold. Two minutes later, Mabalane Rachael’s attempt was saved, maintaining the visitors’ frustration. Just before the interval, an unfortunate injury forced a substitution; Tshegofatso Pheko replaced right defender Mpho Kheswa in the 42nd minute, ensuring defensive stability was maintained.

The first half closed with Kekana Masego again thwarted by an offside call at 54 minutes, another mistimed run correctly flagged. Labyrinth’s defensive discipline was evident when Letlhogonolo Ditau cleared a dangerous ball at the 45th minute, preventing a clear chance for Monene. Thebe’s safe hands were on display again immediately after the break, catching a threatening effort at 47 minutes.

Labyrinth extended their lead in the 58th minute through Resego Ntsayagae, who scored a composed close-range finish after a solo run, demonstrating her attacking prowess. However, the same minute saw Letlhogonolo Ditau receive a yellow card, a reminder of the physical nature of the contest. Ditau quickly made amends by delivering a long pass at 61 minutes that created another chance for the hosts.

Monene struggled to break down the home side’s defence, with Mabalane Rachael firing wide at 70 minutes. Labyrinth continued to create opportunities, with Resego Ntsayagae providing a key long pass at 73 minutes that set up further attacking moves. The home side’s fluid team play culminated in a goal at 75 minutes, when Tshegofatso Mokgopha finished a well-worked team move with a right-footed strike, sealing a commanding 3-0 lead.

Tactical changes followed as Kebitsang Vanessa replaced Mabalane Rachael in the 77th minute, adding fresh legs to the attack. Vanessa quickly made an impact, forcing a save at 82 minutes. Monene managed to pull a goal back at 85 minutes with a spectacular overhead kick from close range, a moment of quality that briefly lifted their spirits.

Despite the goal, Labyrinth’s defence remained alert. Mosele Ashley cleared a dangerous ball at 87 minutes, preventing another Monene chance. In the closing stages, Resego Ntsayagae had an attempt that went high over the bar at 89 minutes, but the result was never in doubt.

Labyrinth Football Club Ladies delivered a comprehensive performance, blending solid defensive work with incisive attacking play. Goalkeeper Thibathiba Thebe was outstanding throughout, making crucial saves and commanding her area with authority, earning her the player of the match accolade. The 4-1 victory at Dinie Estate Rustenburg was a testament to their tactical organisation and clinical finishing.
