Home cup match

On the crisp morning of 1 November 2025, Carbrain Clarets 2011's welcomed Royal Albert 2011s to Oak Road 3G for a Scottish cup 3rd round home match kicking off promptly at 9:00am. The Clarets delivered a commanding performance, overwhelming their visitors with a resounding 9-0 victory over the course of 80 minutes plus added time in this 11-a-side encounter.

Carbrain Clarets set up in a 4-4-1-1 formation, deploying Archie Edgar in goal to marshal the defence. The back four consisted of Ryan Cherry at right back, Zack Graham and Daniel Abdulrahman as central defenders, and Liam McGuire on the left flank. The midfield line featured Connor McMahon on the right wing, Noah Webb and Tyler Scott centrally, and Matthew Malone on the left. Just ahead of the midfield sat Ciar McKlusky in an attacking midfield role, supporting lone striker Fergus Davies. This shape was designed to provide defensive solidity with four at the back, midfield width and control through the central pairing, while McKlusky’s role was to link play and create chances for Davies up front. The substitutes available were Kobe, Ruadh, Ryan G, Evan, Luka, and Kai.

The Clarets wasted little time asserting their dominance. At 15 minutes, Tyler Scott’s precise pass found Ciar McKlusky, who expertly finished to open the scoring. Just two minutes later, Scott again provided the assist, this time with a short pass to Daniel Abdulrahman, who converted a well-worked team move to double the lead. The Clarets’ fluidity was evident as the defence joined the attack seamlessly.

By the 23rd minute, the roles reversed as Abdulrahman set up Scott, who made no mistake in slotting home to make it 3-0. The Clarets then made a flurry of tactical substitutions around the 25th and 26th minutes: Kobe Stevenson replaced Liam McGuire, Ruadh Greene came on for Fergus Davies, and Ryan Griffin took over from Ryan Cherry. These changes injected fresh energy and maintained the team’s relentless tempo.

The substitutions paid immediate dividends. At 29 minutes, Greene assisted McKlusky for a clinical finish inside the box, extending the lead to 4-0. Shortly after, at 31 minutes, Evan Clarets replaced Zack Graham in defence, followed by Luka McVittie coming on for Noah Webb and Kai Logan replacing Tyler Scott by the 34th minute. These tactical moves ensured the Clarets kept their intensity high.

McKlusky was proving unstoppable. At 33 minutes, he completed his hat-trick with another goal assisted by Scott, sending the Clarets into half-time with a commanding 5-0 advantage. The half-time whistle at 40 minutes marked a dominant first period for the home side.

The second half saw no let-up from Carbrain Clarets. Just after the restart, at 45 minutes, McKlusky grabbed his fourth goal of the match, this time assisted by Matthew Malone, further emphasising his role as the creative and scoring fulcrum of the team.

The Clarets continued to press, and at 67 minutes, substitute Kobe Stevenson found the net, adding to the growing tally. Luka McVittie followed suit at 73 minutes, scoring to make it 7-0. The Clarets’ attacking prowess was relentless, with every player contributing to the overwhelming dominance.

At 77 minutes, Stevenson struck again, this time assisted by Kai Logan, sealing the emphatic 9-0 victory. The Clarets’ tactical substitutions and fluid attacking play ensured they maintained control throughout the match, leaving Royal Albert unable to mount any meaningful resistance.

Ciar McKlusky was deservedly named player of the match after his four-goal haul and influential attacking midfield display, orchestrating much of the Clarets’ attacking threat. The comprehensive win at Oak Road 3G will surely boost Carbrain Clarets 2011’s confidence as they progress further in the cup competition.
