Away cup match
Afternoon boys,
Please find attached my report from Sunday’s Game.
Chaps it’s a tough game to write about if I’m honest as I believe we dominated the game for long periods, although a score line of 7-2 looks like we got smashed it was anything but.
I felt we started the game really well & Tonbridge scored against the run of play as we switched off from a corner, we all have roles and responsibilities from corners boys that we give you before kick off, it’s so important at your young age, you really take it on board, the edge of the box was left free & Tonbridge had a free shot on goal, it has to be better!
After that boys I thought we took over, the reaction was excellent, we scored a wonderful equaliser through Max but again boys while in the box seat, individual errors allowed Tonbridge to score again & we were chasing the game, I felt if we had taken the lead we would have won comfortably, we got back into the game again through Bailey, but could not sustain that pressure and get our noses in front with Tonbridge scoring another goal.
We spoke at half time about being calm, as I felt we were much the better side & being patient, we put Sera in a more advanced position and I felt we were probing well without the ball dropping for us In the box & Tonbridge caught us on the break which took the wind out of our sails.
Again boys I can’t fault the effort as we tried to get back in the game & as it was stretched Tonbridge scored speculative efforts which made it look like we got heavily beaten but it was anything but.
The theme over the first two games has been you could argue we could have won them both but have taken two defeats on the chin.
We are very close to getting things right & we all need to ensure we have the mentality to turn the average start to the season into WINS, we want to develop but we need to be killers in key moments and that will be the focus at training this week.
Let’s get back to work and take charge against Dulwich.
