Afternoon chaps,
Please find attached my report from Sunday’s game, please ALL make sure you access your player data accounts to take a closer look at your data from the game on Sunday.
Lads first and foremost well done for WINNING on Sunday, we spoke about this before & as much as mine & Beckham’s job is to develop you individually football is about WINNING at any level & we found a way to do this on Sunday & I was delighted with the three points.
Ironically I think it’s one of our poorer performances of the season & we have played a lot better than this and got beat so well done for finding a way to get the job done.
I thought we started the game very flat & way too many times we were loose in possession when had we had been crisp in possession and played through the thirds quickly we would have got in at will, Cray’s defensive shape was so poor & they were playing such a high line that had we found the quality to slide Lemar or Bailey in behind we would have created a lot of chances, having said that we should have been 3-0 up after 15 mins but we were wasteful in front of goal.
We did eventually get the goal with a moment of brilliance from Leon & followed up from a corner with Max shortly before half time, I have to say lads we are scoring a lot of goals from set pieces, the delivery from Leon and Bailey has been wonderful & we look a real threat, we also look very sure defensively from corners as well, this is a HUGE part of the game, you only have to look at Arsenal sitting top of the premier league & how many goals they get from set pieces, so well done for taking the information on board, we will continue to use this as part of our armoury!
I asked at half time for more quality on the ball, and to take care in possession but if I’m honest I think the second half was much of the same, I’m not sure if it’s because respectfully to Cray they were so poor we began to lower our standards and tempo but none the less we need to be better in possession, we all know that.
Again Max popped up with a goal from a recycled set play & thats 5 for the season now! Well done mate you have been excellent since you joined & played on with a very sore ankle, that’s the attitude and commitment we need from all of us.
After that boys it was a very drab second period & although we had chances to put the game well and truly out of sight, we left the back door open & gave a sloppy goal away, Bill you must check your shoulders and move the ball quicker!
Overall though boys the above may seem a little negative but I was so proud of you all for getting the three points & we now going into a cram packed November schedule with some big games & I expect us to continue to climb the league!
Let’s get back to work & we have another very winnable game on Sunday to continue the momentum!
See you this evening!
