Away friendly match

Wasn't going to write a review on this game, being it's only a friendly, but given the circumstances, I thought I'd write a short one (for reference).

Context:

Marlow currently sit mid-table in the division above us (5th out of 9, on 23 points). We, currently sitting 3rd in division 7, are effectively 7 places behind them.

Marlow progressed to the final of the Challenge Cup, and would have faced us if we had beaten Downley in the previous round.

Marcus, their coach, asked if we wanted a friendly. Give the a warm up before the final, as they've finished all their league matches. Happy to oblige, we made it happen (our own little version of what could have been).

Onto the match, and it was very even throughout. We took the lead in the 6th minute from a clearance kick, just in our own half (if I remember correctly), by Miguel. The ball flew through the air, and into the penalty area, where rushing attackers put the keeper and defenders under pressure. The ball bounced in front of the keeper and looped over his head. Their defence tried to scramble the ball out, but it was declared to have crossed the line. 1-0, and Miguel's first goal for the club.

Marlow got their goal back in the 31st minute, just before half time, and we go into the break even.

Second half, and again it all seemed pretty even. The last 15 minutes, and we have a re-shuffle, playing 4-3-3. Moving Logan, who wasn't having much success down the left, over to the right side. Low and behold, he scores two goals in the 67th and 69th minute respectively, to win the game 3-1.

For a bit of fun, we did a penalty shootout, again, just to give them some practice if it's needed. Marlow won that 4-3, and we carried on until everyone had had a go.

All in all, was a great match to watch, and brilliant to have another division 6 scalp to our names.
