Home league match
Totteridge FC Yellows welcomed Holmer Green Minors Colts to Four Ashes on the morning of 2nd November 2025 for an early kick-off league fixture that ended in a 3-1 victory for the home side. The 80-minute contest saw Totteridge overturn an early deficit to secure all three points in a spirited display.
Totteridge lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, deploying Joshan Nijjar in goal to marshal the defence. The back four consisted of Chaise Duff at right back, Daniel Shah and Oleg Krivosic as central defenders, and Rory Fairless on the left flank. In midfield, Sam Anderson and Noah Brereton operated as the two holding central midfielders tasked with both breaking up play and initiating attacks. Ahead of them, the three attacking midfielders were positioned with Nico Cox on the right, Tatenda Makoni centrally as the attacking midfielder, and Adam Hussain on the left, all supporting lone striker Logan Paulse. The substitutes bench featured Ojas Pawar.
The match began with Holmer Green Minors Colts taking an early lead in the 20th minute, unsettling the home crowd at Four Ashes. However, Totteridge responded swiftly with a tactical substitution immediately after conceding, bringing on Ojas Pawar for Adam Hussain to inject fresh energy into the left attacking midfield position.
As the first half progressed, Totteridge sought to regain control but were unable to find the net before the break, with the teams heading into the interval at 1-0 to the visitors. The halftime whistle at 40 minutes was quickly followed by a further change from Totteridge, as Adam Hussain returned to the pitch replacing Sam Anderson in central midfield, signalling a shift to bolster attacking impetus.
The second half saw Totteridge’s resilience pay dividends. Just ten minutes after the restart, Oleg Krivosic rose highest to meet a corner delivered by Noah Brereton, powering a close-range header past the Holmer Green goalkeeper to level the scores. This goal not only restored parity but also lifted the home side’s spirits.
Shortly after, in the 53rd minute, another substitution saw Sam Anderson reintroduced, this time replacing striker Logan Paulse, perhaps to add midfield stability or fresh legs in the centre of the park. Totteridge’s momentum continued to build, and in the 65th minute, right attacking midfielder Nico Cox capitalised on a short pass from left back Rory Fairless to slot home a right-footed finish inside the box, putting the hosts ahead for the first time.
The lead was doubled just two minutes later when Adam Hussain, having been reintroduced earlier, combined with Tatenda Makoni to great effect. Makoni’s short pass found Hussain in close range inside the box, and the left-footed finish was clinical, extending Totteridge’s advantage to 3-1.
Further tactical adjustments followed as Logan Paulse was brought back on for Nico Cox in the 72nd minute, restoring the striker to the frontline. Later, in the 79th minute, Nico Cox returned to the field replacing Oleg Krivosic, indicating a final push to maintain the lead and close out the game.
Throughout the match, Tatenda Makoni was a standout performer, orchestrating play from his central attacking midfield role and providing the crucial assist for the third goal, earning him the player of the match accolade.
Totteridge FC Yellows’ ability to respond to an early setback with tactical substitutions and a well-executed game plan ultimately secured a deserved 3-1 victory over Holmer Green Minors Colts at Four Ashes.
