Home cup match
Silver Spring United hosted Blessed FC at Blandair Regional Park West Playground on 4 January 2026, with kick-off at 1:00pm in a high-octane cup encounter. The match ended 5-4 in favour of Silver Spring United after a pulsating 90 minutes of football, showcasing attacking flair and defensive lapses from both sides.
Silver Spring United lined up in a traditional 4-4-2 formation, aiming to balance defensive solidity with attacking width. Benicio Lopez took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, protected by a back four of Femi Kargbo at right back, Jason Reyes and Valentine Tafuh as central defenders, and Edwin Giron on the left. The midfield quartet featured Vini Fosting on the right wing, Edwin Ortiz and Maxim Falloux centrally, and Sakai Allen on the left flank. Up front, Sahid Antar operated as the right forward alongside left forward Tapati Leleng. The substitutes available were Densie Josky and Ndoye Pierre.
From the outset, Silver Spring United sought to utilise their wide players to stretch Blessed FC’s defence. The first breakthrough came in the 13th minute when Sahid Antar delivered a precise cross from the right, allowing Tapati Leleng to slot home from close range with his right foot. Ten minutes later, the visitors were stunned again as Vini Fosting unleashed a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box, which Sahid Antar followed up by scoring himself in the 23rd minute, doubling the lead.
Despite the early dominance, Valentine Tafuh’s misplaced pass in the 35th minute almost invited trouble but did not result in a goal. Shortly after, Tafuh was substituted off for Densie Josky in the 37th minute, signalling a tactical adjustment. Antar then showcased his clinical instincts by scoring again in the 39th minute, this time unassisted, extending Silver Spring United’s advantage.
However, the introduction of Josky was not without incident. A misjudgement on his part in the 40th minute allowed Blessed FC to pull one back, injecting renewed hope into the visitors. Blessed FC capitalised further just before half time, netting again in the 45th minute to reduce the deficit to 3-2.
At the interval, Silver Spring United made a forced change as Ndoye Pierre replaced the injured Jason Reyes in central defence. The second half saw Blessed FC continue their fightback, equalising in the 59th minute to level the scores at 3-3. The visitors then took the lead for the first time in the match in the 77th minute, making it 4-3 and putting Silver Spring United under significant pressure.
Despite the setback, Silver Spring United rallied to find two more goals in the closing stages, ultimately securing a 5-4 victory. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams displaying attacking verve but also defensive vulnerabilities. Silver Spring United’s ability to respond under pressure proved decisive in this enthralling cup tie.
