On 9 October 2025, Rising Sun FC hosted mic at Benoni in an extraordinary 11-a-side fixture kicking off at 3:00pm. The match lasted 60 minutes plus added time, with an additional five minutes of extra time played. Rising Sun FC delivered a stunning 20-0 victory, completely overwhelming their opponents in a one-sided encounter.

Rising Sun FC lined up in a 3-4-3 formation, deploying three defenders at the back: Lwandle on the right, Morena centrally, and Snethemba on the left. This defensive trio was tasked with maintaining solidity and initiating attacks from the back. The midfield quartet consisted of Msibi on the right wing, Stoz and Sphelele occupying the central midfield roles, and Bandile on the left. Their role was to control possession, support both defence and attack, and supply the front three. Up front, the attacking trio featured Hlelo on the right, Thabang as the central striker, and Aphiwe on the left, expected to spearhead the offensive efforts and convert chances. Rising Sun FC’s substitutes were Obi, Mpumi, Thapelo, po, and Chuku, ready to inject fresh energy as the match progressed.

The scoring frenzy began early, with Thabang opening the account in the 7th minute, expertly finishing a move set up by Stoz. Almost immediately, Msibi doubled the lead with a goal of his own, setting the tone for what was to come. Msibi was relentless, adding a second goal in the 15th minute, showcasing his clinical finishing. Rising Sun’s midfield dominance was further emphasised when Stoz scored in the 18th minute, assisted by Msibi, underlining the fluidity and creativity in the middle of the park.

Morena, the central defender, got on the scoresheet in the 26th minute, demonstrating Rising Sun’s threat from set-pieces or advancing defenders. The first half concluded at the 30-minute mark with Rising Sun FC already commanding a commanding lead.

Immediately after half-time, Rising Sun made a substitution, with Obi replacing Bandile on the left midfield. Obi wasted no time making an impact, scoring in the 36th minute after a neat assist from Hlelo. This period also saw a flurry of changes: Mpumi came on for Stoz, Thapelo replaced Thabang, and po took over from Sphelele, all at the 36th minute mark. Obi quickly added a second goal to his tally in the same minute, signalling a seamless transition despite the substitutions.

Mpumi continued the scoring spree by netting in the 37th minute, assisted by Obi, while Hlelo found the net in the 39th minute, thanks to a precise pass from Msibi. po then contributed with a goal in the 44th minute, further extending the lead. Rising Sun’s relentless pressure paid off again early in the second half when Msibi scored twice in quick succession at 48 and 49 minutes, assisted by Snethemba and Hlelo respectively.

Obi was again on target in the 50th minute, this time assisted by po, followed by Snethemba scoring in the 53rd minute with po providing the assist. An own goal by a mic player in the 56th minute added to the humiliation for the visitors.

Rising Sun’s attacking onslaught continued with po scoring in the 61st minute, assisted by Aphiwe, followed by Mpumi’s second goal in the 65th minute. Aphiwe then scored in the 68th minute, with Mpumi setting him up, before Rising Sun made another substitution, bringing on Chuku for Msibi at the 69th minute. Chuku was promptly shown a yellow card, a rare moment of discipline concern in an otherwise dominant display.

The goals kept coming as Hlelo scored again in the 70th minute. po added yet another in the 73rd minute, assisted by Thapelo, rounding off a remarkable goal-scoring spree.

Throughout the match, Rising Sun FC’s players demonstrated clinical finishing, relentless energy, and tactical discipline. Mpumi, Lwandle, and Morena were singled out as players of the match for their outstanding contributions in attack, defence, and overall influence on the game.

This emphatic 20-0 victory will surely be remembered as one of Rising Sun FC’s most dominant performances on home soil.
