Reddish Villa Reds travelled to Laurus Ryecroft on 13 September 2025 for a 7-a-side league away fixture against R.A.S FC U10 Lions, kicking off at 1:20pm. Over the course of 40 minutes plus added time, the Reds managed to keep a clean sheet and emerge victorious with a 4-0 scoreline.
The Reds lined up in a 2-3-1 formation, a setup designed to balance defensive solidity with midfield control and a lone striker leading the attack. Tom Dyer took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper, tasked with organising the defence and making crucial saves. Tobias Hylton and Muhammad Abdi formed the central defensive partnership, expected to shield the goal and break up opposition attacks. In midfield, Roman Ryan operated on the right flank, Jack Davies held the central midfield role, and Theo Wallworth patrolled the left side, all three charged with linking defence and attack while providing width and support. Up front, James Ball led the line as the sole striker, responsible for converting chances and applying pressure on the opposition defence.
The match unfolded with both sides showing intent, but it was Reddish Villa Reds who maintained control through disciplined defending and measured build-up play. The defensive duo of Hylton and Abdi were resolute, effectively cutting out R.A.S FC U10 Lions’ advances and allowing Dyer to remain largely untroubled in goal.
Midfielders Ryan, Davies, and Wallworth worked tirelessly to retain possession and create opportunities, with Davies orchestrating play centrally and the wide midfielders providing crucial width. James Ball’s presence up front kept the Lions’ defenders on alert, although clear-cut chances were limited in the first half.
At the 20-minute mark, the referee signalled half-time, with the Reds holding a slender advantage. The break offered both teams a chance to regroup, but it was clear that Reddish Villa Reds’ tactical discipline and organisation had given them the upper hand.
In the second half, the Reds continued to press and control the tempo, with the midfield trio maintaining their shape and supporting both defence and attack. James Ball’s movement and hold-up play created pockets of space, allowing the Reds to probe the Lions’ backline.
Despite the Lions’ efforts to find an equaliser, the Reds’ defensive unit remained steadfast, with Hylton and Abdi intercepting passes and clearing danger effectively. Tom Dyer’s calm presence in goal ensured that any attempts on target were comfortably dealt with.
Ultimately, Reddish Villa Reds’ cohesive team performance and tactical execution secured them a well-earned a 4-0 victory on the road. The clean sheet and narrow win will provide confidence as they look ahead to their next league fixtures.
