Home league match

On 4 January 2026, Oracle F.A. hosted Betenase FC in a keenly contested league encounter at the Dunkwa Youth Resource Center, kicking off at 3:30pm. The home side ultimately fell to a 3-2 defeat after a pulsating 90 minutes plus added time, in front of a crowd of 300 spectators.

Oracle F.A. lined up in a 4-1-3-2 formation, deploying Ebenezer Quaye Ansah in goal. The defensive line consisted of Oscar Acquah at right back, Shawers Asare and Buckman Obeng as central defenders, and Promise Amegayibor on the left flank. Isaac Boateng operated as the lone holding midfielder, shielding the back four. Ahead of him, Michael Agbi took up the right attacking midfield role, Ahialorxo Steven played centrally behind the strikers, and Atakora Samuel occupied the left attacking midfield position. Up front, Kojo Ansah led the line on the right, partnered by Obeng Prince on the left. The bench featured substitute Ahialorxo Williams.

The match began with intensity as Oracle’s Shawers Asare received an early yellow card in the 7th minute for a bad tackle, signalling a physical contest. Oracle took the lead in the 23rd minute through Obeng Prince, who expertly finished with his right foot following a neat short pass from Michael Agbi, a goal born from a well-worked team move. However, the advantage was short-lived as Betenase FC capitalised on a defensive error seven minutes later, scoring from close range with a right-footed finish to level the scores.

The first half continued to be fraught with disciplinary issues. Atakora Samuel was booked for a bad tackle in the 27th minute, and Betenase FC also saw one of their players cautioned for similar reasons in the 38th minute. Just before the break, Oracle’s goalkeeper Ebenezer Quaye Ansah was shown a yellow card for dissent, followed swiftly by Kojo Ansah receiving a booking for a bad tackle in stoppage time. The referee’s performance was middling, with a rating of 50, reflecting a game marked by frequent fouls and cautions.

The second half resumed with Betenase FC again picking up a yellow card in the 47th minute for a bad tackle. The visitors then took the lead in the 54th minute, converting a penalty with a right-footed strike. Oracle sought to respond and made a tactical substitution in the 68th minute, bringing on Ahialorxo Williams for Ahialorxo Steven in an attempt to inject fresh creativity into midfield.

Despite the change, Oracle continued to struggle with discipline as Promise Amegayibor was booked for a bad tackle in the 69th minute. Betenase FC also received another yellow card in the 73rd minute for a similar offence. Oracle’s former central attacking midfielder Ahialorxo Steven, now off the pitch, had been cautioned earlier in the 77th minute for a bad tackle.

Oracle’s substitute Ahialorxo Williams made an immediate impact, scoring a spectacular goal in the 78th minute from outside the box with a right-footed strike following a long pass from Promise Amegayibor. The goal was a screamer that reignited hope for the home side. However, Betenase FC sealed the victory deep into injury time at the 94th minute, converting a second penalty to make it 3-2.

The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with Oracle F.A. showing glimpses of attacking flair and resilience but ultimately undone by defensive lapses and disciplinary issues. Obeng Prince’s early goal and overall contribution earned him the player of the match accolade despite the defeat. The home side will look to regroup and tighten their discipline as they prepare for their next league fixture.
