Away league match

Newcastle Benfield Tardini U10 Sunday faced Wallsend B.C. U10 Golds in a league away match at Wallsend B.C. U7 Golds on 30 November 2025, kicking off promptly at 9:00am. The 7-a-side contest lasted 50 minutes plus injury time, with Newcastle Benfield Tardini running out comfortable 6-1 victors.

Newcastle Benfield Tardini lined up in a 2-3-1 formation, deploying two central defenders, three midfielders across the right, centre and left, and a lone striker up front. Ollie Lattimer guarded the goal, while James Rutherford and Lewis Coates formed the central defensive partnership. The midfield trio consisted of Elias Rowland on the right, Freddie Brydon centrally, and Tom Slater on the left, tasked with both defensive duties and supporting attacks. Leading the line was striker Alfie Simons, expected to spearhead the offensive efforts. On the bench were Parker Buglass, Jaxson Medland and Oliver Moore, ready to make an impact if called upon.

The match burst into life early as James Rutherford opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a stunning long-range strike from outside the box, expertly struck with his right foot. Just five minutes later, Rutherford doubled the lead with another powerful right-footed effort from distance, signalling his intent to dominate the game. His hat-trick was completed in the 14th minute when he capitalised on a close-range opportunity inside the box, again with his right foot, putting Newcastle Benfield Tardini firmly in control.

Shortly after his third goal, Tom Slater was forced off injured and replaced by Parker Buglass in the 14th minute. The substitutions continued as Jaxson Medland came on for Elias Rowland in the 18th minute, followed by Oliver Moore replacing Freddie Brydon two minutes later. These changes saw fresh legs introduced into the midfield and right wing positions, maintaining the team’s energy and shape.

Buglass quickly made his mark, scoring a direct free-kick from outside the box with his left foot in the 22nd minute, extending the lead further before the half-time whistle at 25 minutes. The first half ended with Newcastle Benfield Tardini comfortably ahead, their attacking play and defensive solidity proving too much for Wallsend B.C.

The second half saw Alfie Simons add to the tally in the 30th minute, finishing from close range inside the box after a precise assist from Parker Buglass. Wallsend B.C. managed to pull a goal back in the 39th minute through a fluke close-range effort, but this did little to halt Newcastle Benfield Tardini’s momentum.

The final goal of the match came in the 50th minute when Alfie Simons scored again, this time assisted by Elias Rowland with a short pass inside the box. Simons’ composed finish with his right foot sealed a dominant 6-1 victory for Newcastle Benfield Tardini.

James Rutherford’s remarkable hat-trick, combined with the contributions from Buglass and Simons, ensured a commanding performance. The defensive unit, marshalled by Rutherford and Coates, alongside goalkeeper Lattimer, kept Wallsend B.C. largely at bay. This comprehensive win will boost Newcastle Benfield Tardini’s confidence as they continue their league campaign.

A totally dominant performance where the scoreline could have been double figures.

Commenting after the game, manager Nick said "Most complete performance the lads have put together for me. The passing and decision making was on point today."

That was the last Sunday game of 2025. And what a way to do it. Completing a hatrick of wins against Wallsend over 8 days. (4wins in 5 against wallsend teams this season) and the cheery on top was pinching a new football from Walker Central on the pitch behind us. As Mark would say.. FTW
