Newcastle Benfield Tardini u10 Sunday hosted Haltwhistle Jubilee U10 at the Newcastle Benfield Juniors U7 Tardini ground on 5th October 2025, with kick-off at 10:00am. In a tightly contested league home match played over 50 minutes plus added time, Newcastle Benfield Tardini emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline.

The hosts set up in a 2-3-1 formation, deploying two central defenders, three midfielders across the right, centre and left, and a lone striker upfront. Ollie Lattimer guarded the goal, while James Rutherford and Oliver Moore formed the central defensive partnership. The midfield trio consisted of Tom Slater on the right, Parker Buglass centrally, and Elias Rowland on the left, tasked with both defensive duties and supporting attacks. Freddie Brydon led the line as the striker, expected to spearhead offensive moves and convert chances. On the bench, Newcastle Benfield Tardini had three substitutes ready: Alfie Cook, Jaxson Medland and Lewis Coates.

The match began with Newcastle Benfield Tardini dominating possession with the wind in their favour. Despite this, Haltwhistle had the first clear cut chance but a low save from Ollie Lattimer kept the scoreline at 0-0. Later in the half the home side came close by hitting the woodwork. At the 15-minute mark, a triple substitution saw Alfie Cook replace striker Freddie Brydon, Jaxson Medland come on for right midfielder Tom Slater, and Lewis Coates take over from central midfielder Parker Buglass. These tactical switches aimed to refresh the midfield and attack, adjusting the team’s dynamics early in the contest.

The first half concluded at 25 minutes with the scoreline still goalless, as both teams battled hard in midfield and defence. However, the deadlock was broken in the second half when Haltwhistle Jubilee capitalised on a close-range opportunity inside the box at the 35th minute, slotting home with their right foot to take the lead.

With the score at 0-1 Oliver Moore had a dubious shout for a goal as his 20yard freekick came off the underside of the crossbar and we still do not know if it was over the line or not. The referee did not gice the goal but warning signs for Oliver Moore’s long range efforts had been noted.

Newcastle Benfield Tardini responded with determination, and it was indeed Oliver Moore who struck a stunning equaliser at the 43rd minute. From outside the box, Moore unleashed a powerful right-footed screamer that left the goalkeeper with no chance, bringing the score to 1-1.

Shortly after, at 44 minutes, Freddie Brydon was reintroduced to the pitch, replacing left midfielder Elias Rowland. This substitution proved decisive as Brydon made an immediate impact. Just three minutes later, at the 47th minute, he drove from the half way line past two defenders and delivered a deadly cross into the danger zone. Capitalising on a defensive error by the opposition and scored from outside the box, restoring Newcastle Benfield Tardini’s lead.

The final minutes saw Newcastle Benfield Tardini hold firm to their advantage, with goalkeeper Ollie Lattimer and the defensive unit maintaining composure under pressure. The match ended 2-1 in favour of the home side, a result that reflected their resilience and tactical adaptability.

Freddie Brydon was named player of the match for his influential role, particularly his crucial winning goal and overall attacking threat. Newcastle Benfield Tardini’s ability to respond quickly after falling behind and their effective use of substitutions were key factors in securing the victory over Haltwhistle Jubilee.
