Lads Club Juniors U12 travelled to Flowfit Stadium Ludlow on 12 October 2025 for a 9-a-side league encounter against Ludlow Town FC U12 Lions, kicking off at 10:30am. The match ended in a narrow 2-1 victory for Lads Club Juniors, who showed resilience and quality to secure all three points on the road in front of a crowd of 40.
Deploying a 2-5-1 formation, Lads Club Juniors set up with Lucas Price guarding the goal. Archie Rigby and Louis Howells formed the central defensive partnership, tasked with repelling Ludlow’s attacks. The midfield was packed with five players: Chase Bracegirdle operated on the right flank, Charlie Arnold on the left, while Zayn Prosser, Thomi Scoular, and Flyn Watkins occupied central midfield roles. Up front, Oscar Jones led the line as the lone striker, expected to spearhead attacks and convert chances. The substitutes available were Flynn Gething, Finn Jones, Charlie Clueit, and Musa Touray.
From the first whistle, Lads Club Juniors showed intent. Within the opening minute, goalkeeper Lucas Price was alert to clear a dangerous ball, setting the tone for a solid defensive display. Just moments later, Louis Howells delivered a precise slide rule pass that carved open the Ludlow defence, creating an early chance for Oscar Jones, whose shot was well saved by the home keeper.
Defensively, Archie Rigby was influential, intercepting a threatening move in the ninth minute, while Louis Howells demonstrated his defensive prowess with a crucial tackle a minute later. The breakthrough came in the 17th minute when Thomi Scoular intercepted a goal kick and embarked on a solo run, weaving past a defender before calmly slotting home with his left foot to give Lads Club Juniors the lead.
However, the joy was short-lived as Ludlow Town FC U12 Lions were awarded a controversial penalty just two minutes later for a foul that looked to be outside the box. Ludlow converted with a right-footed strike into the roof of the net, levelling the score at 1-1. Lads Club Juniors quickly regrouped, with Archie Rigby clearing danger in the 20th minute and Chase Bracegirdle making an interception immediately after to stem the tide.
The first substitutions came swiftly as Flynn Gething replaced Flyn Watkins in the 21st minute, followed by Finn Jones coming on for the goal scorer Thomi Scoular a minute later. Louis Howells continued to shine defensively, making another vital tackle in the 27th minute.
The decisive moment arrived in the 28th minute when Chase Bracegirdle provided a short pass inside the box to Finn Jones, who finished neatly with his right foot to restore Lads Club Juniors’ lead. The side made further changes at the half-hour mark, with Charlie Clueit and Musa Touray coming on for Chase Bracegirdle and Charlie Arnold respectively, as the teams went in at half-time with Lads Club Juniors ahead 2-1.
The second half saw Charlie Clueit make a strong defensive contribution with a well-timed tackle in the 38th minute, he was a real pain for the Ludlow attack. An offside call against Oscar Jones when he was through 1 on 1 with the keeper in the 40th minute was controversially ruled, with many shouts from the sideline suggesting the decision was incorrect. Moments later, Lucas Price produced an amazing penalty save to deny Ludlow Town a chance to equalise, keeping his side in front ??.
At the interval, Flyn Watkins returned to the field, replacing Flynn Gething. Early in the second half, Oscar Jones once again demonstrated his creative ability with a slide rule pass that created a promising chance, though Finn Jones’ subsequent effort was saved by the goalkeeper.
