Airdrie 1 – 4 Rob Roy
A commanding display saw the boys bounce back in style, securing our first league points of the season. After last week’s disappointing outing, the squad responded with real intent and intensity from the first whistle.
We dominated the early exchanges without quite getting the reward our play deserved. Just as Airdrie began to grow into the game a little, Nathan stepped up and rifled a 30-yard free kick past the keeper — a strike that set the tone.
The goal injected fresh momentum, and soon after, Archie won back possession and threaded a superb pass into Ace. With a deft touch and a drop of the shoulder, Ace skipped past his marker and unleashed a stunning 25-yard effort into the top corner.
Just as we looked to be pulling away, Airdrie found a lifeline through a moment of individual brilliance from their midfielder, who struck from distance to make it 2–1.
We’ve spoken about our reactions to conceding goals, and credit to the boys — they responded immediately. Within a minute, Keir delivered a pinpoint pass, Aiden flicked it on beautifully, and Ace raced through from 25 yards to calmly slot home to make it 3–1 at the break.
So far this season, we’ve struggled after half-time, but the lads were switched on and, despite a stiff breeze, took the game to Airdrie. Their efforts were rewarded with a well-crafted fourth: Lucas won possession, danced past two defenders, and slid a perfect ball into Ace, who cut inside and curled a sublime finish in off the post.
Though the scoring ended there, we continued to threaten going forward and delivered our most resolute defensive performance of the season under late pressure.
We reverted to the shape and style that brought success at the end of last season — and it paid off. The team looked solid, composed, and hungry across the pitch, with some massive performances.
Man of the Match: Ace
A sensational hat-trick performance from Ace, who was a constant menace throughout. His finishing was top-drawer, his movement electric, and his work rate relentless. One of the standout individual displays you’ll see all season. Well done, Ace.
