Away league match

Corinthian Casuals U12 travelled to Tomlinscote School, Camberley, on 18 January 2026 for a lunchtime league fixture against Camberley Town Youth U12 Rockets — and returned with a confident 4–1 victory after a composed and entertaining performance. Watched by a modest crowd of around 25 spectators, the Casuals looked organised, energetic and in control for long spells.

The visitors lined up in a 3-4-1 formation, with Lourenço on the right of defence, Freddy anchoring the middle and Alfie battling hard on the left, winning the majority of his duels. Behind them, Albie was outstanding in his reading of the game, timing his advances perfectly to shut down Camberley’s long balls before they became dangerous.

Across midfield, Fraser operated on the right, Carter and Harvey controlled the centre, and Cooper provided width on the left. Leo led the line with constant movement, immediately asking questions of the Camberley back line. Thomas and Archer started on the bench.

The Casuals settled quickly and took the lead in the 11th minute. A well-struck free kick from Freddy forced the goalkeeper into a save he couldn’t hold, and Carter reacted quickest to tap in the rebound from close range.

Camberley attempted to respond with direct balls forward, but Albie’s perfect timing off his line ensured those long passes were dealt with calmly. At the back, the Casuals remained disciplined, with Alfie and Lourenço both standing firm in their individual battles.

The first substitution came in the 20th minute, with Thomas introduced to add fresh energy. Around the same time, Leo’s attacking runs began to cause real problems, one bursting run into the box forcing a rash challenge and earning the first penalty of the match. Carter stepped up and converted confidently in the 24th minute, restoring the lead shortly after Camberley had briefly equalised.

The Casuals went into the break 2–1 ahead, looking the sharper and more composed side.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with the midfield controlling possession and Carter’s distribution feeding both the wingers and forward runs. The third goal came in the 44th minute and showcased pure anticipation: Thomas read the situation brilliantly, nicked the ball from the goalkeeper, and finished calmly to make it 3–1.

Substitutions continued to keep the intensity high, with Archer adding legs in midfield and the shape remaining compact. Harvey’s tireless work eventually paid off when his relentless pressing forced a mistake, and he was fouled in the box while battling for possession. This time, Freddy stepped up to convert the penalty in the 51st minute, extending the lead to 4–1.

Despite further rotations, the Casuals never lost control. Leo’s movement continued to stretch the defence, while the back line stayed organised and calm through to the final whistle.

Leo was deservedly named Player of the Match, his runs, work rate and presence causing constant problems and directly contributing to key moments.

A strong away performance, intelligent use of substitutions, and another confident step forward for a Casuals side growing in belief and cohesion.
