We Move On

TeamStats has introduced a "Generate AI Report" function, so you put in the basics, team, formation, goals scored etc and it produces you a nice, fairly anodyne, match report. Did not work tonight though. Computer said no. Must have been the outlandish score or the strange scoring pattern.

Cooler night than it has been at Battersea recently. Changing rooms (once owned by Bobby Robson?) were completely broken.

At half time it was 0-2 and it is going to sound crazy to say it but we felt we were in the game. Sure they were younger and faster than us, and in "Red Shorts", Michael and Josh from the 5-a-side game had three excellent strikers who could hurt us, Michael proving that by scoring two very nice goals - one a run from deep, the next latched onto a misplaced pass and took it round Tyson. But we had had chances - Charlie missed an open goal and Cesar curled over the keeper but hit the bar.

Second half was a different story - they scored about 5 in a mad 5 minutes, 2 were carbon copies - Josh cutting in from their left and unleashing a great right footed shot into the top of Tyson's net. So good he did it twice. One was a wicked cross from their right and a good finish at the far post.

All of their goals were good finishes and nicely worked.

At 0-7 we tried to reorganise and go damage limitation. We should have done that earlier. It sort of worked and we even scored when Ben squeezed a shot under Conrad, after a pass from Rich.

Still time for one more from the oppo; a through ball bounced off the back of my calf and right into their strikers path.

The only excuses we really had were: we were a bit top heavy with defenders and we were missing a few.

"We move on" as an ex-Reading manager used to say after a defeat.
