About Thursday League

Introduction

The Thursday League is an amateur football league in the United Kingdom. It is played on Thursday evenings, hence the name. The league is open to all levels of players, from beginners to experienced.

History

The Thursday League was founded in 1975 by a group of friends who wanted to play football more often than just on weekends. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in it.

Format

The Thursday League is divided into a number of divisions, each with its own set of rules and regulations. The teams in each division play each other twice, once at home and once away. The top teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the lower division.

Rules

The rules of the Thursday League are based on the official rules of football. However, there are a few additional rules that are specific to the league. For example, all players must be over the age of 16, and there is a limit of two substitutes per team.

Venues

The Thursday League matches are played at a variety of venues across the United Kingdom. The majority of matches are played at local parks and playing fields, but some matches are also played at university grounds and other sports facilities.

Cost

The cost of playing in the Thursday League varies depending on the division. The entry fee for the lowest division is around £100 per team, while the entry fee for the highest division is around £300 per team.
