The Sunderland Over 40s Division 1 is an amateur football league for men over the age of 40 in the Sunderland area. The league is affiliated to the Football Association (FA) and is currently in its 13th season.

The league consists of 12 teams who play each other home and away. The top two teams at the end of the season are promoted to the Sunderland Over 40s Premier Division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the Sunderland Over 40s Division 2.
