Rotherham Sunday League

The Rotherham Sunday League is an amateur football league based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, England. It was founded in 1924 and currently has over 100 teams competing in a variety of divisions.

History

The Rotherham Sunday League was founded in 1924 by a group of local footballers who wanted to play the game on Sundays, when most other leagues were not in session. The league initially had just four teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in a variety of divisions.

The league has been home to some of the best amateur footballers in the region, including former Sheffield Wednesday and England international David Hirst. The league also has a strong tradition of youth development, and many former players have gone on to play professional football.

Current season

The 2022-23 season is the 99th season of the Rotherham Sunday League. The league is currently divided into 11 divisions, with the top division being the Premier Division. The current champions of the Premier Division are AFP.

The league also has a number of cup competitions, including the Brian Beeley Challenge Cup, the Alan Brown Memorial Trophy, and the Harry Storey Memorial Trophy.
