North East Hampshire Youth League - NEHYL

NEHYL is run by volunteer committee members and is intended to give girls and boys of different abilities a route into local club football. It covers youth football from under-7 to under-18 level, with both mixed and girls’ provision. Its official fixtures information identifies mixed football on Saturdays and girls’ football on Sundays, while current fixtures, results and tables are published through The FA’s Full-Time service.

Development and girls’ football

The league has a long association with youth development. Its history records the introduction of Mini Soccer in 1999 and girls’ divisions in 2002. NEHYL later adopted the FA player pathway for its younger age groups, including development-based football at the earliest ages. The league also provides girls-only football, with its current website directing visitors to the girls’ Sunday competition.

NEHYL has held England Football Accredited status since the 2022–23 season. The accreditation reflects work by the league and its member clubs around player, coach and volunteer environments. Safeguarding is a visible part of the league’s public information: it directs concerns to club welfare officers or the league welfare team and states that club officials require valid DBS certification.

A league with local roots

The competition began in 1970 as the Farnborough and District Boys League and adopted the North East Hampshire Youth League name twelve years later. That history sits alongside an established network of local clubs, rather than a single central-venue model.
