The Lisburn Junior Invitational League (LJIL) is an amateur football league in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1990 by the late Tommy Whiteside and Stanley Sheppard. The league currently has around 130 teams, including most Irish league clubs. It is affiliated with the Northern Ireland Boys' Football Association.

History

The LJIL was founded in 1990 by the late Tommy Whiteside and Stanley Sheppard. It started with 40 teams and has since grown to around 130 teams. The league is affiliated with the Northern Ireland Boys' Football Association and is one of the largest amateur football leagues in Northern Ireland.

The LJIL has a strong reputation for producing talented players. Many former LJIL players have gone on to play professional football, including Steven Davis, Gareth McAuley, and Kyle Lafferty.

League Structure

The LJIL is divided into four divisions: Division 1, Division 2, Division 3, and Division 4. Each division has a set number of teams, and teams play each other home and away. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom two teams are relegated to the next division.

The LJIL also has a cup competition, the Lisburn Junior Cup. The cup is open to all teams in the LJIL, and the winner of the cup is crowned the Lisburn Junior Cup Champions.
