The Leeds Sunday Alliance Football League was founded in 1892 by a group of amateur footballers in Leeds. The league has been running continuously ever since, making it one of the oldest amateur football leagues in England.

The league has been renamed several times over the years. It was originally called the Leeds & District Sunday Alliance Football League, but it was renamed the Leeds Sunday Alliance Football League in 1974.
