FIFA, or the Fédération Internationale de Football Association, is the international governing body of association football. It is responsible for organizing the FIFA World Cup, the most prestigious football tournament in the world.

FIFA also oversees the administration of amateur football leagues around the world. These leagues are responsible for organizing and running local, regional, and national amateur football competitions.

FIFA was founded in 1904 in Paris, France. The founding members were the national football associations of France, Belgium, Denmark, England, Scotland, Switzerland, and Wales.
