Season 1 - 1 Teams across 1 Divisions
Empal is an amateur football league in the Philippines. It was founded in 2015 and currently has over 100 teams competing in different divisions.
The league is open to players of all ages and skill levels. There are no tryouts, and teams are formed by friends, colleagues, or family members.
The season runs from January to December, with each team playing 10-12 games. The top teams in each division qualify for the playoffs, which culminate in a championship game.
Empal was founded in 2015 by a group of friends who wanted to create a more accessible and affordable way to play football in the Philippines. The league was originally called the "Empal Extreme Football League", but the name was shortened to Empal in 2017.
Empal has grown rapidly since its inception. In the first season, there were only 20 teams competing. By the 2022 season, there were over 100 teams.
The rules of Empal are based on the rules of the FIFA. However, there are some modifications to make the game more accessible to amateur players.
