Catforth Summer League

The Catforth Summer League is an amateur football league based in the Catforth area of Preston, Lancashire. The league was founded in 1922 and is affiliated to the Lancashire FA.

History

The Catforth Summer League was founded in 1922 by a group of local football enthusiasts. The league started with just six teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 20 teams competing in two divisions.

The league has been won by a number of different teams over the years, but the most successful team is Myerscough FC, who have won the league a record 13 times.

Format

The Catforth Summer League consists of two divisions, Division 1 and Division 2. Each division has 10 teams, playing each other once in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each division at the end of the season are promoted, while the bottom two teams are relegated.

The league also has a cup competition, the Barron Cup, which is open to all teams in the league. The cup competition is played in a knockout format, with the winners of the cup being crowned champions of the Catforth Summer League.

Venues

The Catforth Summer League matches are played at a number of different venues in the Catforth area, including Myerscough Sports Centre, Ribchester Playing Fields, and Wrea Green Playing Fields.
