The Belfast and District Football League (BDFL) is an amateur football league in Northern Ireland. It was founded in 1921 and currently has 100 clubs competing in five divisions.
The BDFL was founded in 1921 by a group of football enthusiasts in Belfast. The league initially had four divisions, but this was increased to five in 1954. The BDFL has been a breeding ground for many talented footballers, including George Best, Pat Jennings, and David Healy.
The BDFL is affiliated to the Irish Football Association (IFA). The league's champions are promoted to the Northern Ireland Intermediate League, while the bottom two teams in each division are relegated to the next lower division.
