The Barnet Schools Football League is an amateur football league for schools in the London borough of Barnet. It was founded in 1964 and currently has over 100 teams competing in a variety of age groups.

History

The Barnet Schools Football League was founded in 1964 by a group of local teachers and coaches. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in a variety of age groups.

The league is affiliated with the Football Association (FA) and its teams compete in the FA Youth Cup. The league has also produced a number of professional footballers, including Darren Bent, Chris Smalling, and John Terry.

Structure

The Barnet Schools Football League is divided into a number of divisions, based on the age of the players. The divisions are:

  • Under-12
  • Under-13
  • Under-14
  • Under-15
  • Under-16
  • Under-18

The teams in each division play each other once, home and away. The top teams at the end of the season are promoted to the next division, while the bottom teams are relegated to the lower division.

Recent seasons

The 2021-22 season was the most successful season in the history of the Barnet Schools Football League. The league won the FA Youth Cup for the first time, beating Millwall 3-1 in the final. The league also won the Under-13, Under-14, and Under-15 divisions.
