The Barnet Schools Football League was founded in 1964 by a group of local teachers and coaches. The league started with just a few teams, but it has grown steadily over the years and now has over 100 teams competing in a variety of age groups.

The league is affiliated with the Football Association (FA) and its teams compete in the FA Youth Cup. The league has also produced a number of professional footballers, including Darren Bent, Chris Smalling, and John Terry.
