Accrington & District J.F.L

The league began in 1958 as the Accrington & District Boys Football League. Its formation was prompted by a desire to provide regular, organised football for young players who were not being reached through school teams. It started with 11 under-14 teams and later became the Accrington & District Junior Football League.

Area and participation

Although rooted in Accrington, the competition’s own history records clubs and teams from the surrounding Blackburn, Darwen, Rossendale, Burnley and Colne areas. Lancashire County FA also identifies it as a youth league serving the Accrington, Blackburn and Burnley area.
