About Griffith Rovers

Griffith Rovers AFC were founded in 1972. They originally played in the Dublin Amateur League now called the Amateur Football League. Due to the conjestion of Clubs in the Area they played their Home Games in Castleknock before joining the Athletic Union League in 1975, they won the Division 1 Title Sunday in 1977-78 which allowed them play at the highest level Premier Division Football of the aforementioned AUL, just for the record the founding Members were John Collins, Jim Collins, Sean Sliney, Richie Kelly and the late Frank Gallagher who all hailed from the Griffith Area and Reggie Compelli who came from Glasaree Road. Notable players who have worn the Red and Black are Dublin Gaelic Footballer Barney Rock former Shamrock Rovers and Chelsea stalwart Paddy Mulligan who for younger members you will see on TV 3 at 7am each morning , another irish International and Shamrock Rovers star John Keogh also played and managed the club, another famous celebrity was Brendan Oâ??Carroll believe it or not who also played for Griffith Rovers.
