Background Origin: The initiative began with coach Noah Abich, who noticed neighborhood children watching him train and was inspired to start mentoring them. Timing: The program was founded in mid-2019, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Media reports from late 2020 mention Abich's work with the "Zimmerman united Football Academy" in Zimmerman. Levels: As of 2020, the academy had three age-group levels: Under-12, Under-16, and a senior team. Key personnel Coach Noah Abich: A former Kenyan Premier League (KPL) defender known for his dead-ball skills. He played for Nairobi City Stars and previously featured for Mathare United and Tusker. He holds a Football Kenya Federation (FKF) coaching license. Notable connections Starlon Odhiambo: Noah Abich's son, Starlon Odhiambo, previously trained at the Zimmerman Academy. After impressing with Tusker's junior side, he was invited to train with the senior team in 2023. He also played for Mathare United. Mathare United: Abich played for this club, and at least one player with ties to the Zimmerman Academy, Starlon Odhiambo, has moved to the team.
