Over the coming weeks you will be able to access all the latest news and statistics as the season progresses. </p> WHITEGATE UNITED - A BRIEF HISTORY!</p> </p> (Taken from the book 50 years of Village Football, published in 2009 to mark the clubs 50th anniversary)</p> </p> The evolution of Whitegate FC, from playing friendlies in the late 1950s to the present day "Corinthian" side, is unique in Mid Cheshire which, by any standards, is a hotbed of local amateur football. Over 50 years clubs have waxed and waned, players have come and gone, but through it all Whitegate Football Club has survived, continuosly, without a season's break, and now stands stronger than it has ever been.</p> For only a few brief moments did the club touch upon playing glory, but it matters not... the true measure of success is the satisfaction of taking part, of participating in over 1,500 games and handing Whitegate shirts to upwards of 450 players.</p> It goes almost without saying that none of this would have been possible without a succesion of incredibly hard working individuals who, in their own eras, have given so much to Whitegate FC, not least of course Tony Newall whose involvement spans the entire half century.</p> Now the latest generation is coming to the fore, to propel the club towards its centenary. And when that occurs, in 2059, hopefully someone will up the book and reflect upon those who founded, forged and developed a very special village football club </p>
