About Rentford Town

Rentford were founded on March 17th 1894, and started playing matches in 1900. 3 years later, we won our first major trophy, the FA Cup by beating our bitter rivals Canterbury City 1-0, with Alan Nautile scoring the winning goal in the 90th minute and we went on to win the competition 5 more times in the space of 7 years - with 1 Charity Shield as well.

Our first match was a friendly against Hallam, on May 1st 1900, which we won 3-2, thanks to a Bobby Williams hat-trick. 25 years later, we were elected into the Football League and got automatic promotion first try by finishing 2nd.

We didn't win another major trophy until 1996, which was the Carling Cup - now the EFL Cup. 4 years later, we won our first Premier League title in the 1999/2000 season.

However, 3 seasons later, we got relegated to the Championship, but got promoted first-try, finishing 1st, going invincible and winning our second Carling Cup, which qualified us for the UEFA Cup - now the Europa League, which we won the next season. 5 years later, we won our 3rd Carling Cup, and another 6 years later, we won our second Europa League.

9 years later, we won the FA Cup and The FA Charity Shield - now the FA Community Shield.
