About Orwell FC

Orwell FC started life in early 2011 under the name of Pagefield FC. The club was founded from a group of friends who wanted to progress from playing 5-a-side football on a Sunday evening. Under the stewardship of Grant Adamson the club flourished during the initial training sessions but suffered several defeats during the pre-season fixtures. It was not until the club played Wigan & District Amateur League side Wigan Celtic that they collected their first victory. The side continued to develop picking up several new players and ended the pre-season campaign playing some excellent football earning plaudits key league representatives. The club was successfully elected to the South Lancs Counties League in June 2011 and the wheels were set in motion for a August debut. With affiliations to The Orwell at Wigan Pier and also The Raj Indian Restaurant the club managed to secure two brand new kits. The club has enjoyed a mixed first season in the league and is continuing to build for next season. In the long term we are looking to secure our own ground and in preparations to become an FA Charter Standard Club.
