Game 7 of the season: league match: Northchurch FCv Wendover Mens FC

Wendover went into this game top of the table and still with their 100% record in tact. Saturday's host had won promotions in their previous three seasons and have real aspirations to do so again this year.
On a sunny but windy day and on a pitch that more resembled a down-hill ski slope there was a real lack of quality from either team in the first half, but with Wendover playing the first half going up the slope the 0-0 half time scoreline gave us the slight advantage going into the second 45.
Within the first 5 minutes of the re-start the first bit of real quality finally gave the game some much needed spark of life and it would be Wendover's ownTom Sheppard who produced a fine solo effort from outside of the box to riffle in a shot into the bottom right hand corner of the Northchurch net. 1-0 to the black and golds and all records looking set to stay.
Unfortunately not long later a slight mix up between Wendover centre backs saw Northchurch get back into the game with a back post header.
A real shame with the Wendover back four, Renato Nicolo Passaro, Tom Newman, Craig Johnson and man of the match Alex Grover looking solid and deserving of a clean sheet.
From here the game really fizzled out and 1-1 would go on to be the final score although Wendover did have their chances to win it late on.

In the Wendover dressing room at full time the mood was very much like that of a heavy defeat which goes to show how far the team and their winning mentality has progressed this season.
The 100% record may have gone but the boys are still unbeaten and still top of the league.!!!!

Wendover reserves picked up their first win of the season on Saturday away to Oving Fc with a 2-0 win so a massive well done to them and long may it continue.
