First game of the season and still without a full squad for selection. Game started off in a nervous fashion and being on a small pitch didn’t help, with limited time on the ball it became apparent it was going to be a physical battle rather than a footballing game. Every player held their own and got stuck in. Unfortunately 'Slade' created minimal chances but were forcing Park Regis to shoot from long range and without some terrific goalkeeping 'Regis' could have well taken the lead but the half ended 0-0.

The Second Half:

The second half continued like the first. Park Regis took the lead on 50 minutes when a ball was put in the box for the 'Regis' striker to head home. What continued to be a scrappy game saw tackles flying in; frustration was kicking as 'Slade' knew this was a game they could win. However with 15 minutes to go Park Regis scored again to make it 2-0. Slade had the opportunity to pull a goal back after the 'Regis' goalkeeper picked the ball up, dropped it down and then picked up again giving Walderslade an indirect free kick in the area. Lee Pierce stepped up to rifle the ball home but was denied twice by the crossbar.

Couldn’t have asked more from everyone for commitment to getting stuck in, unfortunately the passing wasn’t there today but I have all the confidence that we will go from strength to strength as the season goes on and the rematch with Park Regis at our game with allow us to put this result right.
