vs Aylesbury United Juniors

Away cup match

An even game against a team that has twice beaten us (9-1 and 4-1). This time, however, we've massively improved.

The game started pretty even. Not much between the two sides, until an error at our left back area gave them the first goal. Their winger had the ball, and slipped, losing the ball. Rory tried to get it, but the now laying on the floor winger managed to get control of the ball again and crossed/shot in, with tge ball looping over Kacper.

Their second goal was another given goal. We played the ball back to Kacper in a dangerous place, to which he skillfully managed to dribble the ball towards the edge of his goal before kicking it out. Unfortunately, it fell to one of Aylesbury's players, who shot before Kacper could get back in goal and gave them a 2-0 lead before half time.

The half played out even again. At half time, we changed tactics from 3-2-3-2 to 3-1-3-3, bringing Noah further up the field.

Within one minute, Rory got the ball on the left side of the halfway line and thread the ball through to Logan, who ran on to score the first of two for him.

Three minutes later, and Noah became the provider, again threading it through to Logan to equalise.

We briefly had more of a control of the game, before Aylesbury scored a third, only for it to be ruled offside. Aylesbury then seemed to be more in control, until near the end when a ball got crossed in straight through the six-yard box. If it wasn't for a bad bounce, Nico just had to tap it in the far post to put us in the lead.

A tense ending finished the game a draw and through to penalties.

We win the toss, and go first.

Muhammad miss-hits his penalty, and it goes straight to the keeper. Heart in mouth time. They score. 1-0 to Aylesbury.

Logan steps up and sends the ball into the back of the net. Kacper then produces the save of the game to bring us equal again. 1-1.

Noah next, and again, sends it home, before they score too. 2-2.

Nico then sends it home, before they again equalise. 3-3

Onto the last of the first five penalties, and Sami calmly finishes. If we save this next one, we're through. They shoot, and for a vrief moment, we all think Kacper has saved it, but it slips through and is now 4-4. The Totteridge players cheering for success for about a second.

Sudden Death:

Veera steps up and scores. With each goal cones a huge sigh of relief. Up steps their big centre half. Again, they miss and we're through. They shot, aiming for the bottom right corner, but unfortunately for him, it goes just wide and we win, 5-4 ??.

Victory is ours. Another team from the division above knocked out. Eight games unbeaten (6 wins, 2 draws, although one of those was this game that ultimately ended a win on penalties, so 7 wins and 1 draw).

May the fun continue.
