A strong disciplined performance saw the Colts beat the thuggish Mickleover 95 by a scoreline of 4-2. Right from the first whistle, Mickleover were bullish and followed through on numerous tackles. There will be some bruised ankles amongst the Colts. The 11 that played following late withdrawals due to illness gave everything they had and left the Colts management team and supporters, very proud.

Crowder scored in the first minute, following a brilliant save from Bate, a goal line clearance and a counter attack. Welsh crossed the ball in and Crowder connected sending the ball into the net.

Twelve minutes later and Hunt grabbed the second, again meeting a Lowe cross from the right and tucking it away.

Mickleover continued to press and Bate was kept busy, with the back three working incredibly hard. They did get one back on 30mins when the striker evading two weak challenges and fired past Bate.

The second half was no different, tackles went flying in on the Colts and Bate Senior, with his little red bag, went onto the pitch a number of times. Mickleover grabbed a second, again as a result of weak tackling and suddenly their heads were up.

However, like a punch drunk fighter, the Colts were not done. Three minutes later, Crowder headed home a Vardy free kick. He grabbed his hat trick after the persistent Hunt, whom was fouled on his way through to goal, wriggled the ball to him for Crowder to stab towards the net. The ball rolling over just before the defender could get there.

There was still time for Bate to tip a Mickleover shot onto the post and thankfully the referee blew for full time.
