Had the Colts taken their early chances, the match would have been over after 20minutes. However, Graham St Prims doggedly hung on and provided a stern test for the Colts, who were recovering from last week’s mauling.

Carter had hit the bar with a sweeping shot before Vardy went one better and hit a beauty from 25 yards. Prims scored with their first attempt on target. The Colts failing to deal with a corner and the Prims striker lashed the ball home despite a great attempt by Langham to keep it out. It was 1-1 at half time.

Early in the second half, Crowder earned a penalty when he was felled in the box. He dusted himself down and fired past the keeper, who had a good afternoon for Prims. However, Prims scored again, the Colts defence muscled out by the excellent forward who slotted home.

It was hard going for the Colts but nerves were settled with the third goal. Hardy robbed the right back and picked out Welsh with an inch perfect cross, for him to side foot home. Prims had another shot on target smartly saved by Bate. The game was over with Mogford controlling a strong pass from Birks before arrowing his shot into the top corner.
