Against top of the league Derwent, the Colts earned revenge for the Cup Final defeat last season. Playing on a heavy pitch and with a full squad available, Albrighton tinkered slightly with the formation and line up.

For the first twenty minutes, the Colts showed too much respect for Derwent and following a period of sustained attack, they took the lead. A superb free kick thundered past Bate leaving him little chance to save it. Hardy cleared one off the line from a corner and Bate tipped over another free kick.

Crowder drew the Colts level, heading the ball home from a Hunt cross pass. The heads were up and the Colts were back in the game. If that shocked Derwent, when Welsh added a second, they looked bewildered. A McLaughlin run from the back set him up.

The second half was much similar to the first. Derwent missed a golden chance to equalise before Hunt extended the lead. A pass from Crowder and he smashed it across the keeper into the bottom corner.

The Colts defence stood firm, but Bate was again called into action with two smart saves. Hardy had goal disallowed for offside. Hunt grabbed his second running onto a Welsh through ball and picking his spot in the bottom corner. Absolute quality.

Man of the match though had to be Carter. He played in front of the back three and was just immense.

A great team performance leaving the management team and supporters very proud, again.
