Neutral friendly match

Soccer For All (SFA) hosted Rebels in a friendly neutral match at the University Of Ibadan on 13 September 2025, kicking off at 3:00pm. The 90-minute encounter ended in a 3-1 triumph for SFA, who dominated much of the game with clinical finishing and tactical discipline.

SFA lined up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, deploying three defenders at the back with Siyanbade Adedamola on the right, Kester Tomiwa centrally, and Adewole Samad on the left. This defensive trio was expected to provide solidity and cover, allowing the midfield to control the game. The midfield four consisted of Richard Adetunji on the right flank, Daniel Alonge and Afeez Akeem occupying the central midfield roles, and Obaloluwa Opara on the left. Ahead of them, Qudus Adeleke and Babalola Bolu operated as right and left attacking midfielders respectively, supporting lone striker Akorede Obatuyi. Victor Abikoye guarded the goal. The substitutes bench included Bukunmi T.

From the outset, SFA showed intent, and it was Richard Adetunji who broke the deadlock early on in the 11th minute. His goal set the tone for the home side, who looked confident pressing high and exploiting the wide areas. The first half saw SFA maintain control, with their midfielders dictating the tempo and the defence remaining resolute against Rebels’ advances. The half concluded with SFA leading 1-0.

Shortly after the interval, SFA made a tactical substitution in the 55th minute, bringing on Bukunmi T for Qudus Adeleke to inject fresh energy into the right attacking midfield position. This change paid dividends almost immediately. Just two minutes later, in the 57th minute, Babalola Bolu doubled the lead, finishing off a well-crafted move with an assist from Obaloluwa Opara on the left. The goal highlighted the effectiveness of SFA’s wide players and their ability to combine in the final third.

SFA continued to press, and in the 62nd minute, Akorede Obatuyi added a third goal to the tally. The striker capitalised on a precise delivery from left defender Adewole Samad, who had ventured forward to provide support. This goal underscored the fluidity of SFA’s attacking play and their capacity to create chances from overlapping full-backs.

Rebels managed to pull one back in the 79th minute, but it was too little too late as SFA’s defensive organisation held firm to secure the win. The visitors’ goal was a reminder that the match was not entirely one-sided, but SFA’s dominance throughout the game was clear.

In summary, SFA’s 3-1 victory was built on a solid defensive foundation, effective midfield control, and clinical finishing. The 3-4-2-1 formation allowed them to balance defensive duties with attacking creativity, and the tactical substitution further enhanced their performance in the second half. The players combined well across all lines to deliver a convincing result on home turf.
