vs Carperby United

Away league match

On a glorious saturday afternoon, on a perfect playing surface, the youngest of Richmonds 4 Senior teams visited the unbeaten Carperby Rovers in the Wenslydale Football League.

Town were determined to put behind them the two previous defeats in the league and started with the returning Paterson up front and Knox at the heart of the defence.

Carefully keeping possesion and with Carperby chasing shadows a fine through ball from Farrell unleashed Paterson who with blistering pace eases past the back four rounding the keeper to slot home after all of two minutes on the clock.

1-0 !!!!!!!!!!!!

The bench expoloded into life as after two weeks of being on the end of the opening goal the youngsters had gone in front.

Town seemed inspsired with Howe and Vickers dominating in midfield and Paterson constantly troubling the home defence with his pace.

Penalty !!!!!!!! everyones up in the dugout.

Paterson at full pace bursts into the box and is upended by the home centre half only to see the referee wave play on.

Town continue to press for the vital second goal and after a superb five man move Farrell rounds the home keeper and lets fly only to see an amazing full length diving header by the full back to knock the ball over the bar.

Got to be said everyone was on there feet appluading a great bit of defending.

Carperby were huffing and puffing and after twenty minutes a speculative shot from distance deceives Peck and he can only palm the ball into net.

1-1 game on !!!

Things remain pretty even for the final 20 mins and at half time it remained 1-1

After the interval Town knew it was make or break time.

The home side stepped up a gear, only to be constantly outplayed and outbattled for long spells by a determined Town.

Mistake !!!!!! a poor clearance from Peck and the home winger burst,s into the box rounding the last defender and going to the byeline from nowhere Peck unnecessarly brings the winger down from behind.

A Cast iron penalty depatched clinically by the home centre forward 2-1 !!!!!!!

Unbelievably Town were trailing!!!!!!

Time to Gamble !!!!

Vickers off Davidson on Town go 4-2-4

Farrell pings a delightfull pass Davidson head down first touch smashes it home. 2-2 !!!!!!!!!

This is it were going for the win.

Chance after chance goes begging Paterson goes close , Howe heads over the bar, Allison saved by the keeper.

Another scrambel and the home side clear the ball up the the line , the home winger is away , beautiful cross to the centre of the goal and the header is buried by the MOM Pickard 3-2!!!!!

3 mins on the clock and we,ve thrown away the points again .

Town continue to lay siege but its not to be and the ref blows for full time.

A fantastic effort by Town against one of the Leagues better teams and if we continue to play this well three points will not be far away.

Man of the Match

Home MOM Pickard great all round display fron the veteran centre forward and some clincal finishing.

Town MOM from Carperby Ryan Howe for an impressive performance in the centre of midfield.

Managers MOM Joshua Allison nullified there best player who was eventually subbed, and almost pinched a draw for us in the final minutes.
