Home league match

What an incredible way to end the season. Another top draw perfomance from the Bull to cap off a great second half of the season. With 7 wins out of the last 9 games we secured 1st division football for next season. The credit and plaudits we are now receiving from opposing teams and referees is well deserved and fully justified. How many times over the past two months I have neard "how the hell is your team not pushing for promotion".

We started birightly and went at the 3 tuns from the off, again with a 3-5-2 formation. With lots of possesion we looked dangerous going forward from the first minute. The returning Wintrip had the games earliest chance but failed to capatalise on the glorious chance. Then disaster struck for Paul as he pulled up with a repeat of a hamstring injury that kept him out last week. Enter Chrissy Black, only 1 goal behind Wintrip in the scoring charts. Can he do it ??? Wintrip held his breath.

Within ten minutes of coming on Black drew level on goals with Paul Wintrip with a tidy finish inside the box. A great team move and a sweet finish put the Bull one up, with more to come surely as the 3 tuns struggled to cope with our attacking play.

The second came not long after from the reliable Leather. Dancing around like a one man Diversity in the box, he unleashed a pile driver from 10 yards past the stranded keeper. Jubilation and laughter soon followed as Leather gave us a celebration that will stick with me for ages. He swiftly wipped out his Nana mask, that was conveniently tucked away in his left sock, hoyed it on, and made a beeline for the hoards of Black Bull fans on the near touchline, and duly received a standing ovation. Nice 1 Geoff !!!

Back to the business on the pitch we continued to furrow forward at every opportunity and the third was just around the corner. The solid Dean Black won the ball in his own half and advanced forward at pace. Spotting the ever available Roche down the right, could he pick him out, oh yes he could. Roche then latched onto the ball and advanced into the goal at pace (yes pace!!!!!) and drilled the ball into the bottom corner, as the clueless 3 tuns keeper stayed on his line. Half time 3-0. More of the same please was the message at half time.

The second half was a different story as 3 Tuns came out a different team as the possesion we enjoyed in the first half was non existent. For some reason we struggled to cope for a while with the opposition. They got the goal they probably deserved. Could we dig in again and get another to kill them off.

At the start of the seaon we would of collapsed at his stage, but the Bull are now made from sterner stuff, and are 100% confident in our ability. Confidence is a massive thing in football and the Bull are brimming with it at the minute. And it shows.

With around half an hour to go Chris Black latched onto a great cross and guided the ball into the top corner off his shiny bonce. Spice boy was now top goalscorer for the season. 4-1 up - game over.

The last half hour sort of drifted by with the Bull missing glorious chances to easily notch another 2 possibly 3.

As we discussed after the game, the last two months has been the most enjoyable time in football I have had for some years, and its a credit to the effort and determination of the lads. You all deserve a massive pat on the back. I have been the first to criticise my team when its not going well, however credit where credit is due. Putting the Trimdon result to one side, at times we have been unplayable over the past 9 games. Its at times like this when you realise why you put so much effort into running a team.

Absolutely buzzin !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See you all on May 28th at the presentation night.

Au revoir
