Northfield Town Foundation U10 Lionesses hosted Walmley Colron U9 at Shenley Lane Community Association & Sports Centre on 26 October 2025, with kick-off at 10:00am. In a 7-a-side league encounter lasting 50 minutes plus added time, the Lionesses were defeated 6-1 by their visitors.

Northfield Town lined up in a 2-3-1 formation, deploying two central defenders, three midfielders across the flanks and centre, and a lone striker leading the attack. Millie Parkes took her place in goal, tasked with organising the defence and keeping the opposition at bay. Emmie-Rai Bartlam and Alice Compton formed the central defensive partnership, expected to provide solidity and shield the goalkeeper. The midfield trio consisted of Harper Mills on the right, Lennox Liv centrally, and Olivia Hobbis on the left, each responsible for linking defence and attack while supporting both ends of the pitch. Up front, Lyla Greenfield spearheaded the attack as the lone striker, charged with converting chances. On the bench was substitute Olivia Lyla, ready to come on if needed.

The match began with Walmley Colron asserting early dominance, opening the scoring in the third minute. The Lionesses struggled to settle as the visitors’ attacking threat proved potent from the outset. Just four minutes later, Northfield Town were forced into an early substitution when Olivia Hobbis came off injured, replaced by Olivia Lyla at the seventh minute.

Despite the setback, Northfield Town attempted to regain composure, but Walmley Colron continued to press relentlessly. At the eighteenth minute, another injury substitution saw Olivia Hobbis return to the field, this time replacing Harper Mills on the right wing. The midfield reshuffle aimed to restore balance and energy on the flanks.

Walmley Colron extended their lead with two quickfire goals in the 23rd and 24th minutes, leaving the Lionesses trailing by four goals at half-time. The visitors’ clinical finishing and cohesive play overwhelmed Northfield’s defensive efforts during this period.

The second half saw Walmley Colron maintain their attacking momentum, adding further goals in the 30th and 33rd minutes. Northfield Town’s resilience was tested as they sought to respond amid mounting pressure.

A moment of reward came for the Lionesses in the 40th minute when Olivia Hobbis found the net, pulling a goal back and offering a glimmer of hope. Her strike was a testament to her determination after earlier injury troubles.

However, Walmley Colron sealed their comprehensive victory with a sixth goal in the 45th minute, ensuring the final scoreline read 6-1 in their favour.

Throughout the match, goalkeeper Millie Parkes stood out for Northfield Town, making numerous saves and displaying commendable composure despite the heavy scoreline. Her efforts earned her the player of the match accolade.

In summary, Walmley Colron’s clinical finishing and sustained pressure proved decisive, while Northfield Town showed moments of promise but were ultimately outmatched on the day. The Lionesses will look to regroup and build on their experiences in forthcoming fixtures.
