On 16 November 2025, Mountfield Sharks U13 hosted Egerton at their home ground in a pulsating league encounter that kicked off at 2:30pm. The 70-minute contest ended in a dramatic 4-4 draw, with both sides exchanging blows in a match full of goals and tactical adjustments.

Mountfield Sharks lined up in a 3-1-4-2 formation, deploying three defenders at the back with a single holding midfielder shielding the defence. Kobe Gaskell took his place between the sticks as goalkeeper. The defensive trio consisted of Owen Shea on the right, Daniel O’Keefe centrally, and Alex Sampson on the left. Jasper Heselwood operated as the lone central midfielder, tasked with breaking up play and distributing the ball forward. Ahead of him, four attacking midfielders were positioned: Luca Dixon on the right flank, Jenson May and Harry Horsfield centrally, and Freddie Robinson on the left. Leading the line were forwards Alex Savage on the right and Jack Lundy on the left. The substitutes available were Lucas Simpson and Oliver Mills.

The match burst into life almost immediately as Egerton stunned the home crowd by racing into a 3-0 lead inside the opening seven minutes. Goals in the 2nd, 4th, and 7th minutes left Mountfield Sharks reeling and forced them to rethink their approach early on.

Mountfield Sharks began their fightback in the 15th minute when Freddie Robinson found the net, expertly set up by Harry Horsfield’s precise pass. This goal sparked a series of changes just a minute later, with Lucas Simpson replacing Daniel O’Keefe and Oliver Mills coming on for Jenson May, signalling a tactical shift to regain control.

The substitutions paid dividends swiftly as Harry Horsfield scored in the 21st minute, assisted by the newly introduced Oliver Mills. Four minutes later, Mills himself doubled the comeback with a goal set up by Jasper Heselwood, who was orchestrating play from midfield.

Further tactical tweaks followed in the 29th minute when Jenson May returned to the pitch, replacing Jasper Heselwood, and Daniel O’Keefe came back on for Owen Shea. A brief reversal of these changes occurred in the 34th minute, with Owen Shea reinstated in defence and Daniel O’Keefe taken off.

As the first half drew to a close at the 35-minute mark, the scoreline had tightened considerably, reflecting Mountfield Sharks’ growing momentum.

Early in the second half, substitutions continued with Jasper Heselwood replacing Jack Lundy in the 39th minute, and Daniel O’Keefe coming on for Luca Dixon at 43 minutes. Shortly after, Luca Dixon returned to the field, this time replacing Alex Savage in the 44th minute.

The Sharks took the lead for the first time in the match at the 49th minute when Oliver Mills scored again, this time assisted by Luca Dixon, showcasing the fluidity and creativity of the midfield and forward lines.

However, the lead was short-lived as Egerton struck back in the 56th minute to level the scores once more. Mountfield Sharks responded with another substitution in the 51st minute, bringing Jack Lundy back on for Luca Dixon, and later in the 63rd minute, Luca Dixon returned again, this time replacing Freddie Robinson.

The match ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw, with Oliver Mills standing out as the player of the match for his two crucial goals and overall influence after coming off the bench. The game was a testament to Mountfield Sharks’ resilience and tactical flexibility, as they clawed back from a three-goal deficit to share the spoils with a determined Egerton side.
